The modern day Elgin City Band comprises more than thirty people from all walks of life, including school pupils, students, teachers, doctors and retired people, with ages ranging from teenagers to retirement age. In 2001, the Band decided to relocate to the new purpose built Moray Music Centre in Elgin.
In 2007 the band was forced to vacate the Music Centre due to complaints of noise from a neighbouring property. Since then the band band has led a somewhat nomadic life rehearsing in various premises.
Rehearsals are currently being held in Bishopmill Primary School, Elgin every Wednesday evening between 7.00pm and 9.00pm. Players of all abilities are always welcome whether it be for one rehearsal while visiting the area or for 60 years like our longest serving player!
Elgin City Band can be seen throughout the year at concerts, fetes, church services and supermarket, Christmas, council and charity events.

The tartan featured on this site is the "Elgin City Band" tartan, which was kindly designed for us in 2004 by Johnstons of Elgin. We now wear, in addition to our Band blazers, a tartan waistcoat and bow tie, while our Conductor, Bob Garrity, has tartan trews. The colours were chosen to match the existing Band blazers.>
